This project is part of the initiative to promote tourism in line with the strategic policy plan of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). It aims to develop supply shaping based on safety and sustainability, ultimately leading to high-value services and standards. The project supports the adoption of sustainable tourism standards to drive business growth in a long-term, responsible manner, in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To further this effort, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched the STAR Program: Sustainable Tourism Acceleration Rating. The program is designed to guide the tourism industry towards the Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs), which are tailored to reflect Thailand’s tourism context.
The STGs consist of 17 goals that highlight sustainability across four key dimensions: governance, socio-economy, culture, and environment. The program promotes collaboration among partners across the entire tourism value chain to strengthen Thailand’s image as a valuable and sustainable travel destination, while enhancing the country’s competitive advantage and establishing Thailand as a leading Sustainable Destination.
